Learn about new and evolving data and research resources that will help you and your colleagues in PHSSR better find what you need, and learn about research exploring what is needed to move research findings and results to the public health department.

OpenGov Data and Resources for PHSSR from NLM and Other Federal Organizations

Lisa Lang will provide brief overview of PHSSR resources accessible through the National Library of Medicine and other Federal agencies, with special focus on resources available as a result of the OpenGov Initiative. She will discuss the HHS Community Health Data Initiative, as well as datasets and research services available through NCHS, CMS and other agencies and programs, e.g. the NCHS Research Data Centers (RDC) and the CMS ResDAC.

The National Library of Medicine is taking part in ongoing research on public health practitioners’ access to and use of information resources with an emphasis on evidence-based public health. Simpson will also provide examples of library outreach projects relating to public health in the New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) region and how collaborations between libraries and their PH communities, including the research community, can help expand the work and reach of public health departments.
