Methods Matter: Investigating Causation & Correlation
July 16, 11:00-12:30 EDT
This cyberseminar will explore causation versus association. Specifically, it will address methods used to determine causation and common mistakes made by health services researchers in making inferences about association based on correlation. A case study on emerging findings from the Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization's (HCFO) Special Topic Solicitation in PHSSR will inform research methods used in Health Services Research (HSR) with particular emphasis on Public Health Systems and Services Research (PHSSR).
Speakers include Bryan Dowd (University of Minnesota), Glen Mays (University of Arkansas), and David Grembowski (University of Washington).
