About PHF

Dr. Peggy Honoré is leading the research into how finance affects public health.  You may read more about her experience on the Staff  & National Advisory Committee page.

The field is advancing out of the sense of urgency to understand the composition, utilization, and impact of the finances that fund all components of the public health system. Public health finance is grounded in public finance theories but is focused on the provision of resources for the delivery of public health functions. It is a subset of public health systems research, but also lies within the universe of Health Services Research and Economics.

In addition to being an economic concept, public health finance is also being advanced as a profession. The engagement of the practitioner community is very important to attaining this goal. This site will include tools that practitioners and others can use to apply financial management concepts to the field of public health.
