Building Partnerships among Public Health Practice-Based Research Networks

The Public Health Practice-Based Research Networks Program works collaboratively with networks of public health practitioners and academic partners to build a lasting framework for practice-based research in public health. Our common goal is to implement rigorous research that identifies the most effective ways of organizing, financing and delivering public health services, continually enhancing the evidence base for public health policy and practice.

The initial cohorts of Public Health PBRNs supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through this program are making great strides in building infrastructure and relationships to support innovative research in public health practice. But these RWJF-supported PBRNs represent only a portion of the research networks and collaboratives beginning to form around the U.S. and internationally to facilitate public health research. As the PBRN concept grows in public health, so does the need to broaden the Public Health PBRN Program and to seek out new perspectives and collaborations.

This is why the Public Health PBRN Program offers Affiliate Membership to qualified public health research networks.

The Affiliate PBRN is a new membership category for organizations in the initial stages of developing and/or implementing a Public Health PBRN; or organizations interested in collaborating on research projects with the initial cohorts of RWJF-supported Public Health PBRNs.

Affiliate PBRNs are networks that have a strong commitment to the field of Public Health Systems and Services Research (PHSSR) through collaboration between public health practice agencies and research partners.

Affiliate PBRN Membership Benefits

Affiliate PBRN membership is an ideal way to participate in the Public Health PBRN Program and enjoy these benefits:

• Meetings, conference calls, webinars, and other events to help cultivate potential collaborations with PBRNs on issues related to research development, implementation, and translation to practice.
  
  
• Access to the PH PBRN website and electronic resources, giving you the opportunity to interact with other networks, converse on the discussion board, and utilize other resources and research tools available only to Public Health PBRNs and Affiliate members.
  
  
• Priority announcements regarding funding opportunities, conference panels, presentations, and scholarship opportunities.
  
  
• Special notice and recognition for PBRN Affiliate members during the sponsored conferences and meetings.
  
  
• Opportunities to attend and/or participate in PBRN conference panels and other forms of PBRN research findings dissemination.
